ES-123 - Bournonite, Quartz and Pyrite
Quiruvilca, La Libertad Department, Peru

Large, spectacular and rich combination specimen featuring brilliant crystal clusters of metallic steel-gray bournonite perched on attractive sprays of glassy, translucent quartz crystals and small but bright, lustrous, brassy pyritohedral pyrite crystals. Many of the bournonite crystals, which average 1.2 cm in length, are doubly terminated while some are twinned. A superb example from this well known Peruvian mining district and reasonably priced! Comes with an Ernie Schlichter label. Size: 16.1 x 10.5 x 3.0 cm.

ES-102 - Calcite with Hematite phantoms
Stank Mine, Cumbria, England

Eye-catching specimen of lustrous, glassy, colorless, transparent, prismatic calcite crystals to 2 cm long with vivid red hematite phantoms on a "skin" of red hematite. One crystal in front is cleaved but you don't really notice it and there is minor bruising on a couple of crystals, otherwise it is in very good condition. Good calcite specimens from this classic locality are difficult to come by these days. Size: 7.9 x 4.4 x 4.3 cm.

MC-1647 - Cassiterite
Merekski Ore District, Burea Massif, Khabarovskiy Kray, Russia

Superb cluster of lustrous, glassy, deep coffee-colored cassiterite crystals to 2 cm across resting on a mica schist matrix. The crystals are sharp, undamaged and exhibit some translucency under good lighting. This specimen was mined in 1998. A very fine cassiterite from the far eastern region of Russia! Size: 4.6 x 4.4 x 4.8 cm.

ES-112 - Diopside
Oxford Nickel Mine, Sherbrooke County, Quebec, Canada

Cluster of elongated, greenish-tan colored diopside crystals with no matrix. The crystals exhibit excellent luster and the longest measures over 4 cm in length. Much better than the average specimen from Oxford and very good for the species. Size: 3.2 x 2.5 x 7.0 cm.

LD-1225 - Fluorite with Hematite phantoms
Grube Jonannes, Wolsendorf Region, Oberpfalz, Bavaria, Germany

A superb and huge plate from the late 1800's, composed of numerous inter grown, exceptionally translucent, yellow-olive colored, cubic fluorite crystals to 2.5 cm on edge. There are also numerous phantoms and red hematite inclusions in the crystals. In excellent condition despite its size and age. From the Herb Obodda Fluorite Collection with a label from Dr. Macher, a German dealer circa the late 1800's. Size: 24.5 x 15.2 x 4.0 cm.

ES-109 - Fluorite with Quartz pseudomorphs
after Calcite
La Viesca Mine, La Collada, Asturias, Spain

Gorgeous, transparent, purple, cubic fluorite crystals to 1.8 cm across with beveled edges on matrix. There are also calcite crystals that have been completely replaced by tiny, sparkling quartz crystals, adding a nice color contrast to the fluorite. Large cabinet sized Spanish fluorite specimens like this one are very difficult to get. Choice! Size: 11.0 x 7.0 x 7.1 cm.

Freiberg District, Saxony, Germany

Bright, metallic lead-gray, modified galena crystals on matrix. The crystals have good luster and measure to 1.8 cm across. Some minor nicks on a few crystals don't detract. A superb locality piece and a fine old-timer from this famous German mining district! Size: 4.8 x 5.6 x 7.6 cm.

ES-100 - Microcline, Albite and Smoky Quartz
Papachacra, Catamarca Province, Argentina

Attractive specimen with lustrous, glassy, translucent to transparent smoky brown quartz crystals to 3.2 cm long aesthetically perched on sharp, tan-white orthoclase crystals to 1.5 cm long with a sparse sprinkling of tiny albite crystals. Some of the microcline crystals exhibit baveno twinning. There is also a rust-brown colored pseudomorph of limonite after siderite sitting next to the large smoky quartz crystals near the top of the specimen. Very reminiscent of specimens from Moat Mountain, New Hampshire. Quite attractive and of high quality! Size: 7.0 x 8.6 x 4.4 cm.

Another attractive specimen from Argentina, this one featuring three glassy, sharp, translucent, rich smoky brown quartz crystals to 3.6 cm tall aesthetically arranged on a microcline and albite matrix. No damage and very attractive. Size: 5.3 x 4.3 x 4.0 cm.
