Elmwood Mine, Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee

A sharp, translucent to transparent, large raspberry-colored fluorite cube 2.9 cm long perched on the end of a sparkling dolomite-coated matrix with bright, lustrous sphalerite. The fluorite crystal is incomplete in the back where it was attached to matrix, otherwise it is perfect. Very nice! Size: 4.0 x 2.6 x 4.5 cm.

Milliken Mine, Viburnum Trend, Reynolds County, Missouri

Neat and sharp pseudomorph consisting of brassy pyrite that has completely replaced an anhydrite crystal with a scattering of small, bright, metallic gray galena crystals that add a nice accent. Front and back views are shown. Very good example from the Trend! Size: 1.65 x 0.5 x 4.9 cm.

Large mass of slightly translucent, red-brown, resinous sphalerite crystals 5.2 cm across perched on a sparkling tan dolomitic matrix. The sphalerite has good luster. Elmwood is now closed and specimens from there are becoming difficult to find. Size: 8.9 x 8.1 x 4.3 cm.
